Our Beliefs

The Well is interconfessional, building Christian community across various denominations and confessions.  We try to be hard at the core and soft at the edges, holding fast to the historic essentials of our faith while encouraging unity in our diversity.  We share the core beliefs common to the Christian world.

What we believe about God

God is Trinity (Gen 1:26-27, Matt 3:15-17, 2 Cor 13:14)

God is Creator (Gen 1, Ps 19, Is 40:21-31)

Jesus is Lord (Acts 2:36, Rom 10:9, Phil 2:9-11)

The Bible is God’s Word (Ps 119:11, 2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:20-21)

We are made for relationships and mission (Gen 2:15-18, Is 55:10-13, 2 Cor 5:18-21)

Our world is broken (Gen 3, Rom 1:18-32, Gal 5:19-21)

Sin separates us from God (Is 59:2, Rom 3:23, Rom 6:23)

Salvation is by faith in Jesus (Acts 16:30-31, Rom 3:21-22, Eph 2:8-9,

The Spirit fills believers (Acts 2:38, Rom 8:9-11, Eph 1:13-14)

Church is the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:13-14, Eph 1:22-23, Col 1:18)

Jesus is making all things new (Rom 8:19-21, 2 Cor 5:17, Rev 21:3-5)

What we believe about you

 You are a masterpiece

uniquely designed by God

to reveal his beauty

to your world

in a way that no one else can

but you’re broken

we all are

disconnected from God

from others

from people we were sent to love

we’re all like that

that’s what’s wrong with the world

it’s sad

but God makes us whole in Christ

he gives us life

through the death of Jesus

and by his Spirit

he re-connects us

to himself

to each other

to know and be known

to love and be loved

in community

as the body of Christ

now we are his hands and his feet

broken people made whole

disconnected people now eternally connected

serving others

as Jesus has served us

and each masterpiece

revealing something unique

about the master

as his kingdom comes

and his will is done

on earth as it is in heaven
